Their Story

Not all Vegas weddings are sunny and warm. Dee and Kenny got to experience a rare rainy occasion for their big day but they didn’t let that dampen their spirits! Let’s go back to the beginning though of how this unwavering couple met. The two, both perviously married, had known each other for 15 years watching their kids grow up together. Their kids attended the Future Farmers of America shows every year and they would chat casually when they saw each other. After 15 years of keeping in touch and seeing their kids off to college, Kenny realized they were both suddenly single and took a leap of faith and asked for her number. They talked for a few days on the phone and had their first date…then had their second date the next day…then dated the next 10 days. They say it was a match ordained by God and it sure seems that way!

The couple chose an intimate Las Vegas elopement because with 4 grown kids they knew it would be hard to get them all together at the same time for a bigger event. Seeing as this was the second wedding for both Dee and Kenny, they decided to not go for the “First Look” tradition and got ready together at their hotel. This allowed them to take the romantic limo ride together and just relax as they enjoyed the scenery along the way. The couple loved Presidential Limos. “Steve with Presidential Limo’s was great. He shared local history and gave great restaurant suggestions, too,” said Dee.

Dee looked gorgeous in a sparkling fitted gown. She chose Smoothbrides to help her get glam for the big day and loved it. “Kelly at Smoothbrides was amazing. We chatted from the moment she came in the door. She asked for my ideas, shared some of her own, and we got started. Totally a blast to work with and did an amazing job on my hair and make up,” said Dee. Her beautiful bouquet was designed by Gaia Flowers and she added her own brooch for a special finishing touch.

Even though it rained on their wedding day, nothing could keep these two down. We all just kept it moving and kept the laughter up so that you almost forgot it was raining. Dee said “Our Minister Roland was a hoot. Very friendly guy who knew how to create a ceremony/vows very unique to us.” Her advice to others eloping is:

“Don’t stress! It rained on my wedding day (yes, in Vegas) and it all came out ok. I am a planner by nature, so doing this long distance was very much out of my comfort zone…but it all came off without a hitch!”
