Eloping In Vegas, Just Do It!
It’s no secret that Las Vegas is one of the most exciting cities in the world. It’s located in the picturesque Mojave Desert and surrounded by majestic mountain ranges on all sides. It is stunning for photos and lasting memories.
Vegas is the perfect place to make it happen; and elopement couldn’t be more simple, classy and hassle-free.
A Las Vegas wedding is all about being creative, and we like to think of elopement as “an intimate destination wedding with fewer than 20 guests.”
That’s right; modern elopement is much more than just the secret runaway nuptials and classic Elvis impersonators. Imagine your private ceremony gracing the monumental beauty of a Red Rock Canyon wedding!
We know how to expand on a very good thing. Check out our elopement interview at Brit + Co.

Time of Year
Most couples make a major mistake when they suddenly get the urge to marry in Vegas by choosing an exact date without consulting any vendors there first.
There is nothing wrong with having a beautiful spur of the moment planned, but that elopement window should be large enough to allow vendors some time to seamlessly arrange your elopement day.
We recommend selecting a date range or a month or a season to get married in. Then, your vendors can help you narrow down the ideal time to tie the knot.
Every season in our beautiful desert playground offers something unique and visually appealing. Springtime is the second most popular time of year to say “I do.” First, the temperatures are typically cooler and comfy, and the landscape is lush with cacti blooming and trees turning green, and the days are long.
The only downside is the wind, and it can get gusty for your outdoor spring ceremony. We suggest having a professional hair and makeup team in tow. One styling tip for long-haired ladies is to wear your hair half-up, half-down for your big day.
That usually takes care of the wind issue for pictures and nicely does the trick, we might add.
Vegas is sexy and steamy in all the right ways, but the hot summer months generally send the mercury churning above 100 degrees for June, July and August.
August is blazing hot as the locals here will remind you.
Some people choose a Las Vegas wedding during the summer for personal reasons. Maybe you’re a teacher, and this time of the year is ideal because you’re on summer break. Also, “some like it hot” as the old saying goes and prefer a toasty time to make it official.
Summer eloping in our desert wonderland can still be done quite beautifully, especially when the ceremony is performed during sunrise or sunset.
As the ultimate Vegas wedding planners, we normally advise on sunset ceremonies for most of the year, and boy, are they visually stunning. In this case, we recommend mornings in the summer because it’s the coolest time of day. The mountain background is still a sight to behold during sunrise and as private.
Hydration is a major tip we cannot stress enough of. Around here, the heat can quickly zap your energy. Water is your friend, and you’ll feel so much better if you drink, drink and drink some more. Liters of water remains the best beverage for your body in the summer desert temperatures.
Speaking of drinking, you will want to be cautious of indulging in alcohol prior to your big day. Too much can be seriously dehydrating and cause some bloating.
As for summer wedding attire, whatever you do, don’t make your partner wear something like a wool suit :).
Autumn days in Vegas are the favorite time of year for that destination wedding. The months of September, October and November offer the most days of consistent, lovely weather. Temperate days and crisp evenings are gorgeous for an outdoor ceremony.
October happens to be the busiest wedding month, so if you’re not planning in advance, the weekends might be filled, and vendors might be hesitant to take on last-minute clients.
Cool days with abundant sunshine round out the winter months in Vegas, and although some folks shy away from a winter elopement here, you should consider it.
The scenic landscape tends to be a bit moodier then, but it’s hauntingly beautiful, and some of our best unions have been celebrated during winter.
Pre-Register For Your Marriage License
Let’s be honest; Vegas is one of the easiest places to get married in on the planet, but we have one fantastic tip: Fill out the online pre-registration information before you arrive.
Once you get to the Clark County Marriage License Bureau, you can skip the line and obtain your license. Usually, that takes less than 30 minutes. Do plan for more time if you have selected a special wedding date like Valentine’s Day or something like 11.11.11 :).

Location, Location, Location
Chapel or Scenic Spot
Where you tie the knot while eloping in Vegas is a big deal, and we like boasting because this city offers endless breathtaking backdrops. Vegas has been blessed with the best nature has to offer, and our professional wedding company is an expert at these scenic locations:
- Red Rock Canyon
- Dry Lake Bed
- Eldorado Canyon
- Cactus Joe’s Blue Diamond Nursery
- Springs Preserve
- Floyd Lamb Park
Not every couple who gets married in Las Vegas chooses a rustic walk down the aisle amid the cacti and Joshua trees, and that’s perfectly fine.
Your options are many, and Vegas features some of the most charming chapels around. If you do decide on a wedding chapel, most of these locations require that you use their in-house photographer and videographer.
The two chapels listed here are the ones we recommend because both places are easier to work with than other establishments, according to our experience:
They welcome outside vendors to take photos of the ceremony if the couple agrees to wed outside in their pink Cadillac. Hey, Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow eloped at the chapel many years ago.
They perform a fun Elvis wedding; I attended one of these but didn’t photograph the ceremony. The venue features a small courtyard on the side, but the building next door depicts some awesome murals called “Lost Vegas Antiques.”
How To Get To Your Vegas Elopement
Luckily, Vegas remains one of the easiest places to get to in the world. In addition, it is also one of the most affordable destinations to choose from.
McCarran International Airport is the leading commercial airport serving the Las Vegas Valley and your gateway to our amazing city. The airport is merely five miles south of Downtown Las Vegas. Talk about the ultimate convenience.
Twenty-nine airlines fly into Vegas. Some of these include American, Delta, Jet Blue, Southwest, United, Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, Aeromexico, British Airways, Korean Air and Thomas Cook Airlines.
Renting a car? Long road trip?
If you prefer being behind the wheel in your own car (or renting one) and taking in the sights along the way, then, you’ll really enjoy heading into the Vegas Valley and all that the Southwestern U.S. has to offer. It’s more affordable than hiring transportation, and you have the freedom to explore.
Depending on where you’re traveling from, there’s Yosemite National Park (California), Zion National Park (Utah), Arches National Park (Utah), Bryce Canyon National Park (Utah), Monument Valley And Four Corners, Mesa Verde National Park (Colorado) and the Grand Canyon (Arizona).
If you want to party along the trip and imbibe in some celebratory adult beverages, please, leave the driving to someone else. Just hire car service, and receive the ultimate pampering.
